New players - whether playing footy for the first time or transferring from another club are always welcome at Greythorn.

Unlike some clubs, we are not selective about who we recruit. If you want to play footy - we have a place for you.

The club has a policy of participation and encouragement where all players are given ample opportunity regardless of ability.

We cater for junior footballers from the Under 8 level through to 'Colts' (Under 17).

The AFL and by extension - our League, require youngsters to be a minimum of 7 years of age on the 30th April to be eligible to join our Under 8s. Colts must be no more than 16 years - on the 1st January.

As the 1st January is the date on which all age groups other than the Under 8s are determined this effectively means that an Under 8s player whose birthday occurs between the 1st January and the 30th April will in fact be eligible to play for two years in the Under 8s. Our club would advise that anyone who this applies to should remain in the Under 8s age group rather than playing outside their level for the following years.

Our League requires all players to be registered and, if registering with the YJFL for the first time, proof of age in the form of a birth certificate is needed. If transferring from another club, it is necessary to arrange a transfer from the previous club. Our Registrar will arrange this for you.

Registration is normally carried out on-line although in exceptional circumstances, we do have a form you can complete. The form can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.
