Recent Legislation requires that all people in clubs and organisations who come into contact with children under the age of 18 years must undergo a check and be approved to hold his or her position in the organisation.
As all our players are under the age of 18 obviously this legislation greatly affects our club and in fact most sporting clubs throughout the state.
There are a number of exemptions to the requirements, however AFL Victoria is anxious that all volunteers in all applicable football clubs meet the requirements.
Once approved, an individual is provided with a card which remains valid for a period of 5 years unless revoked.
Full details are contained in the attached PDF.
Our club will ensure that all relevant people meet the requirements.
Naturally there are no costs involved for the affected individual.
Full details are provided on the Department of Justice's website which explains how to obtain approval.
Please Note: Commencing in July 2013 it will be possible to complete your application on-line. It will still be necessary to attend the Post Office with your photo but this process will now be far simpler. Details of on-line applications are provided on the Dept of Justice's website. |
